SURVEY OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS INFECTION RATE ON HANDS OF STUDENTS AT DANANG UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY AND PHARMACY

Abstract

Objective: Determining the rate of Staphylococcus aureus infection on the hands of students at Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy and some factors related to S.aureus infection. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 120 samples taken from the hands of students using the Glove juice method and compared with 120 corresponding samples from students who washed their hands before taking the samples. Results: The rate of S.aureus infection on the hands of students was 32.5%, of which 12.5% ​​were Methicillin-resistant S.aureus - isolated from students who had a hospital internship. The results showed that there was no difference in the rate of S.aureus infection with gender and hospital internship. However, there was a difference in the rate of S.aureus infection between the group of students who washed their hands before sampling and the group of students who did not wash their hands before sampling with p<0.05. Conclusion: The proportion of infection of S. aureus was 32.5%, of which 12.5% ​​were MRSA respectively and there was a significant relationship between infecting S. aureus and washing hand before taking samples.
