Abstract

Background: Antimicrobial resistance poses a global threat to public health and safety. Health-related students will become future professionals responsible for medication management and patient health education. Enhancing students’ knowledge of antibiotics is a key strategy to reduce antimicrobial resistance. Objectives: To describe the knowledge of antibiotics and identify associated factors among students at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 306 students from Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing programs at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy. Results: The percentage of students with good knowledge of antibiotics was 50.65%. There were statistically significant associations between antibiotic knowledge and field of study, year level, GPA, and receiving prescriptions (p<0.05). Conclusion: About half of the students demonstrated good knowledge of antibiotics. The findings indicate that education has a positive impact on students’ understanding of antibiotics. It is necessary to develop and integrate appropriate training programs to further improve students’ antibiotic knowledge.
